நோபல் பரிசு. தொழில்நுட்ப ரீதியாக உச்சம் தொட்டுக் காணப்பட்ட இக்கால கட்டத்தில் வாழ்க்கைத்துறைகளாகிய அறிவியல், அரசியல், மருத்துவம், பொறியியல், கலை ஆகிய துறைகள் வளர்ச்சி பெற்றுக் காணப்படுகின்றன. சங்க காலம் தொட்டு இன்று வரை கவிகளை பாடிய புலவர் முதல் ஓவியங்களை தீட்டிய ஓவியர்கள் வரை அனைத்து துறைகளிலும் சிறந்து விளங்கிய அறிஞர்களை மன்னர்கள் பாராட்டி கௌரவித்து பல்வேறு பரிசில்களை வழங்கியுள்ளனர். உலகனைத்திற்கும் உதவக்கூடிய செயற்கருஞ் செயல்களை செய்த பெரியவர்களை கௌரவிக்கும் முகமாக வழங்கப்படும் பாராட்டுக்களிலும் பரிசுகளிலும் மிகச்சிறந்ததாகக் விளங்குவது "நோபல் பரிசாகும்".  நோபல் பரிசு என்பது உலகின் மிக உயரிய அறிவியல், இலக்கியம், மற்றும் அமைதிக்கான பரிசாகும். நோபல் பரிசானது 1895 ஆம் ஆண்டு சுவீடிய வேதியலாளரான ஆல்ஃரேட் நோபல் என்பவரால் நிறுவப்பட்டது.  ஆல்ஃரேட் தனது வாழ் நாளில் ஏற்பட்ட அனுபவத்தின் காரணமாகவே இப் பரிசு வழங்க எண்ணினார். நோபல் பரிசின் வரலாறு பற்றி பார்ப்போமானால், 19ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் ஆரம்பத்தில் ஆல்ஃரேட் நோபலின் தந்தையாகிய எமானுவல் நோபல் என்பவர் சுவீடனில் வெடிமருந்து உற்பத்தி செய்தார...
